Where does your style inspiration come from?

I would say that I draw inspiration from a variety of sources, anything from Instagram and Pinterest and online sites to sort of walking around cities, fashion shows, magazines. I love, vintage shops and thrifting. And I think that I draw, ideas for my home from a huge variety of sources.

Top 3 tips for achieving that Instagram worthy home?

My top three tips for achieving an Instagram worthy home, don’t be too swayed by trends. It can be really easy to be seduced by all the latest pieces that you see coming in and out of the stores. But I think the most important thing is to be led by your heart and choose pieces and schemes that you’ll love for a long time rather than just a season.

Number 2 would be, bring nature into your home through the use of houseplants and flowers. Not only do they bring colouring, but they’re also a great way of accessorizing shelves, adding interest to different rooms.

Number 3 would be, to shop your home rather than immediately going out and buying something new. So, if you’re looking for, a print to fill a space on a wall or something to fill a certain area of a room, take a look around your other rooms in the house to see if there’s a piece that might work there. Rearranging your furniture can give a really fresh new feel to a room. And, obviously, it’s also cost effective as well.

What is your favourite feature in your house?

I think my favourite feature of our home is probably our living room because it’s the heart of our home. It’s where we spend most of our time together as a family, hanging out, watching movies, where we entertain with friends. I love the colour scheme that we’ve gone for in here. It’s a really soft sort of peachy pink. It feels kind of comforting and cozy, but it’s also really light and airy. So, it just creates that really lovely ambiance.

What was your shutter vision when you came to Shutterly?

My vision when I came to Shutterly was to create a more premium looking window feature. We’ve wanted shutters for 12 or 13 years ever since we moved into the property. I think window shutters are such a striking feature, particularly in a period property, and we wanted something that would allow us to adjust the amount of light coming into our rooms as well as really, setting off our windows beautifully.

Why did you opt for full height/ hardwood shutters?

We opted for full height hardwood shutters because we wanted the option of allowing different amounts of light into the room, creating different levels of privacy according to the time of day. In the bedrooms, we wanted the option to create complete darkness as well, obviously, which is important at nighttime. And hardwood is just the most premium quality. If we’re going to invest in something of this quality, we wanted to do it properly.

What do you think is the best feature/benefit of shutters?

I think the best feature of shutters is just that instant wow factor that they bring into a room. They’re not only beautiful from the outside looking into a property, but when you’re in a room, they’ve really set off the window areas beautifully, and they’re just a wonderful feature to have.

What have you enjoyed most about the whole process?

I think what I’ve enjoyed most is seeing, obviously, the before and after transformation. We had white blinds before, so I wasn’t sure that the, the difference would be huge, but my goodness. It’s such an improvement.

The rooms feel bigger. They feel lighter in area. They’re easy to keep clean. The shutters just give that instant impact to the rooms. The fact that we could select from so many different paint colours and flat sizes, it’s created a really bespoke feel, to all of our rooms. I’m absolutely delighted with them.
